5 Things To Do With Kids In Pinellas County

June 16, 2017 by The727Team

As a father, I know that I have an obligation to keep my son entertained for his sanity and mine!  Lucky for us, we live in an area where there’s plenty of family friendly options to keep us both entertained and interacting. There’s much more that goes beyond this list, but in order to offer some great options I’ve narrowed it down to 5 things to do with kids in Pinellas County.

Things To Do With Kids In Pinellas County

#1 – 3 Daughters Brewing Company

I have gone to 3 Daughters Brewing Company several times and have had the time of my life.  The brewery is a huge warehouse with many different sections including a large open area with tons of games, a stage, and areas that can be roped off for private parties.

There’s also a bar on the inside, a room with ping pong tables, board games, card games, and so much more!

Now you might not think this would be a place for kids, but this brewery happens to be very family friendly. Most of the time you’ll see parents bring their kids here during the afternoon before it gets too crowded and they get to play games with them in the play areas while mom and dad enjoy a cold beer or a flight of beers.

3 Daughters is a staple of St Petersburg and honestly one of the best bars in the area.  Don’t miss out on an opportunity to enjoy yourself and play a variety of competitive games with your kids!

#2 – Clearwater Marine Aquarium

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is the most popular aquarium in the area.  The staff and people behind the scenes do a great job of keeping it up and offering a variety of sights and activities. If you’ve ever heard of Winter the Dolphin, that’s part of the Aquarium’s claim to fame. Winter is a dolphin with a very interesting story and a prosthetic tail.

Winter starred in the movie: Dolphin Tale.

I know many parents in the area that enjoy taking their kids to the aquarium because it’s always a unique experience of what they’ll see every time they go.

#3 – Largo Central Park

Statues

There are a lot of parks in Pinellas County. We are very fortunate that there has been a deep focus on preservation and giving families options for entertainment especially with land that is so limited.

My personal favorite to take my son to is Largo Central Park.  Not only is the park absolutely huge, but there’s so many activities for kids of a variety of ages that it’s almost overwhelming.

If you’ve never been, I’d encourage you the first time you go to take a stroll and explore all the regions of the park.

Some of the best features are the big playground, the train that children and families can ride on during certain times of the week, and the large field where many families bring frisbees, footballs, soccer balls and anything else you would like and run free.

#4 – Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise

Clearwater Pirates

Do you really need convincing on this?  You get to ride around on a giant pirate ship in Clearwater Beach.  It’s a famous local attraction.  Take a visit to Clearwater Beach and you’ll see it sailing around.  Your kids will love you forever… or at least for the day if you take them on this.

#5 – Sunken Gardens

Gardens

Botanical gardens + 4 acres = plenty of time to kill!  It really is an experience, with beautiful plants, gorgeous waterfalls and lots of education.

The Sunken Gardens is located in St Petersburg and they do offer tours.  There’s also plenty of events that happen there throughout the year, you can check this link for upcoming events: http://www.stpete.org/attractions/sunken_gardens/index.php
