Indian Shores, Florida sometimes gets confused with Indian Rocks Beach.
They are actually two different towns in Pinellas County that are positioned next to each other. Located right between the Gulf of Mexico and the Intracoastal Waterway, Indian Shores only has 0.3 square miles of land in it’s borders.
Regardless of the small land area, Indian Shores has a big impact for such a small town. They even have their own logo for the town featured below.
Indian Shores has some interesting places to visit beyond the beach including:
Tiki Gardens Beach Access – This is a large parking lot that used be a South Seas Polynesian Theme Park. Although it’s no longer a theme park, it’s a great place to start for easy public parking so you can explore the beach and area on foot.
Smugglers Cove – A fun 18 hole putt putt golf that has real alligators! You can even feed them! There are 2 locations, one in Indian Shores and the other in Madeira Beach.
Town Square Nature Park – A tiny park that features a boardwalk that takes you through a dense forest filled with wild life. You’ll see birds and even sometimes crabs in trees. If you are looking for a real nature preserve in the area, it’s a great place to stop.
Seaside Seabird Sanctuary – This is a great place to learn a lot about birds. Birds are kept here that can no longer be in the wild or that are injured and being taken care of. They rely on donations so if you are a bird lover pay them a visit.
Salt Rock Grill – Although there are several options in the town for food and beverages, perhaps the best known spot is Salt Rock. If you are looking to dine in a beautiful atmosphere with a great assortment of choices, you’ll want to check this restaurant out.
If you enjoy tranquility you may want to consider vacationing or living in Indian Shores. The beach is kept clean (there are plenty of trash cans), it’s not overcrowded and you’ll have plenty of activities to keep entertained.
