Central Oak Park In St Petersburg, FL

Central Oak Park is located north of Central Avenue and west of 34th St. This neighborhood sits right next to the highly in demand neighborhood of Kenwood. While many are paying a premium to live in Kenwood, there are many more affordable options in the Central Oak Park area. Kenwood is an established neighborhood and used to be a lot like Central Oak Park is now. Similar to Kenwood, Central Oak Park has an active community organization that plans events, keeps an eye out for crime and actively improves the neighborhood. It's safe to say that you are more likely to see appreciation in the long term buying in Central Oak Park than you would if you were to buy in Kenwood.

This neighborhood is located close to the rapidly developing Grand Central District. It is the dead center of Pinellas County, being less than 2 miles from both Downtown St Pete and the beach. Another great perk is that it's not in a flood zone. This neighborhood is full of affordable homes perfect for many first time home buyers.

Central Oak Park is zoned for Mt Vernon Elementary, Azalea Middle School, St Petersburg High.

As mentioned before, Central Oak Park is both equidistant to the Downtown area and to the beaches. About a 5 minute car ride or 10 minute bike ride will get you to the heart of downtown St Pete. There are convenient bike lanes on 1st Ave North and South or you can ride along Central Avenue on the sidewalk at a casual pace.

As of recently, there have been concerted efforts to shut down a few week long stay hotels that harbored some criminal activity. These establishments were bringing the value of the neighborhood down because of the type of people they would attract. A couple of these have since been shut down in the past year and this area is on the up and up. We have also met some of the residents that are active in the association. There is a group of people here buying up distressed homes and improving them to make this neighborhood better. There is no question that this neighborhood will be a very desirable place to live in the next 5 years.

Part of the reason it is becoming more desirable is because it's located within proximity to the rapidly developing Grand Central District which is an area exploding with bars, restaurants, microbreweries, art galleries and more. In the past 3 years this area has really taken off and in turn the demand to live near there is increasing. Although downtown St Pete is an amazing place, this revitalization of the Grand Central District has filled a void needed for another popular walking district for fun, food and culture.
