Driftwood is a one of a kind neighborhood. When you enter this area you might think you have teleported to a subtropical jungle. Looking around you will notice that all yards are densely filled with tropical trees and the entire neighborhood is under a shaded canopy. There are winding roads, some with trees growing right in the middle of them. Some of these roads get smaller until it feels like you are on a bike path.

This neighborhood contains many historic homes, some on the waterfront and some nestled into the jungle atmosphere. The waterfront homes have a view of Big Bayou and the island of Coquina Key directly across. You will see many folks in their boats, kayaks and paddle boards exploring this sheltered bayou right off of Tampa Bay. What's interesting is that many of these homes don't have seawalls but rather just a beach that extends into the water. Many people are willing to pay a premium to live in Driftwood because it is such a unique neighborhood and it is rare that these homes come on the market.
Driftwood is zoned for Lakewood Elementary, John Hopkins Middle and Lakewood High.

Another great part of the Old Southeast area is Chattaways. The first thing you'll notice about this restaurant is it's beautiful open air patio with a koi pond.
